Anew offers counselling to both women and men who have been affected by or had a termination.
After an abortion, there can be a lot of confusing feelings and often people can feel isolated or lonely as they deal with this issue. This can happen weeks, months or even years after a termination.
It can help to talk about these feelings and experiences in the safe, warm, friendly and non-judgemental environment that Anew provides.
Your counsellor will listen with empathy, respect and understanding as you work through these emotions over a period of time.
Terminations can cause some people to experience confusing feelings and often people can feel isolated or lonely as they deal with this issue. Anew welcomes women to come for non-judgemental support no matter what stage they are at in the process.
You may have had an abortion several years ago and had no negative feelings until recently. It is not unusual for life events to trigger challenging emotions. Topical events in the media can also bring up hurt or sadness that you may not have been aware of previously. Anew recognises how difficult this can be and our Counsellors are specialised in helping people to cope and work through this.
Returning to normal life can be very difficult after a recent termination. You may feel that you can talk to your partner, friend or family member but if you feel that there is nobody you can talk to that understands, we can help. Your Counsellor will offer you a safe space and will listen with empathy, respect and understanding as you work through what can be difficult, sometimes scary emotions.
Men are often forgotten and excluded around the issue of termination. Feelings of powerlessness, loneliness and isolation are quite common among men when faced with this issue. Men are also very welcome to avail of Anew’s Counselling and support services.
