Anew wins Women’s Support Group of the year at the Irish Women’s Awards 2019

The Irish Women’s Awards 2019 aim to acknowledge and celebrate the success of women entrepreneurs, business women, professionals, civil servants, women in uniform, charity workers and many more that contribute in making Ireland a greater place to live in. The awards embody the continuing strength, grit and determination of women, honouring those who continue to thrive, excelling them to the forefront of their industries. The award ceremony took place at a black tie gala event held at The Crowne Plaza, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 on 21st January.

Anew Support Services, a national housing and support organisation for pregnant women experiencing or at risk of homelessness, has won the award for Women’s Support Group of the year at the Irish Women’s Awards 2019.

Anew delivers Supported Temporary Accommodation (Cherry Blossom Cottage) in Swords, Co. Dublin in partnership with the Dublin Region Homeless Executive and TUSLA. Cherry Blossom Cottage in Swords offers a safe space to support women to have their baby despite the experiencing homelessness and be supported into securing a long term home of their own with their child. The programme prepares women for the birth of their baby, in cases where often women have not accessed ante-natal care.

In addition to the Supported Temporary Accommodation Anew offers in Swords, Co. Dublin, Anew provides a wide range of parenting and emotional wellbeing supports to women in their centres in Dublin, Cork and Thurles. The parenting programmes are offered to any woman who feels they need additional support and are delivered in a group work session. In addition individual therapeutic parenting support can be accessed by parents who are struggling in difficult circumstances.
